Miles for Military – Benefiting Operation We Care
Miles for Military is an annual event dedicated to supporting our troops stationed overseas. The ride started at Veteran’s Memorial Park in New Castle, Delaware, and concluded at Molly’s Place Sporting Goods in Maryland. Riders from the community gathered to embark on this meaningful journey, bringing together motorcycle enthusiasts and veterans alike to show their appreciation for the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women.
The event benefits Operation We Care, a nonprofit organization that has been delivering care packages to deployed military personnel and first responders since 2007. These packages contain essential items that offer a comforting reminder of home, such as snacks, hygiene products, and personal notes of gratitude. In addition to supporting active-duty troops, Operation We Care extends its reach to veterans and local first responders, ensuring that those who serve our country are recognized and supported in various ways.
By participating in events like Miles for Military, community members contribute directly to the well-being and morale of our heroes abroad, strengthening the bond between those at home and those on the front lines.
Old Drawyers Creek Longbeards Chapter of the NWTF
Old Drawyers Creek Longbeards Chapter is a dedicated branch of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), working tirelessly to promote wildlife conservation, particularly for wild turkeys, and to uphold hunting traditions. Established in 1973, the NWTF has made significant strides in conserving wildlife habitats, ensuring forest resiliency, and enhancing recreational opportunities across the United States.
The NWTF collaborates with government agencies, community partners, and volunteers to influence policy and advocate for wildlife management and conservation laws. This advocacy is vital for maintaining funding and support for land and wildlife management efforts.
In celebration of the NWTF’s 50th anniversary, Delaware Governor John Carney recognized the organization’s half-century of dedication to conservation with a proclamation. The NWTF has been instrumental in one of the greatest conservation success stories—reviving the wild turkey population from near extinction. Over the years, the NWTF has invested over half a billion dollars to conserve or enhance more than 22 million acres of critical habitat and has spent $8.5 million on research to ensure healthy wild turkey populations.
The Old Drawyers Creek Longbeards Chapter continues this legacy, supporting local conservation efforts and fostering a deep appreciation for the natural world and hunting heritage.
